Shirley Bales was very fond of a grandmother who was a Chenoweth. She was quite taken with Grandma's wonderful ability to tell stories. Later, Shirley married Richard C. Harris, and together they embarked on a thirty-year search and study of the Chenoweth genealogy.
When Shirley passed away in the early nineties, Richard decided to create a memorial to Shirley through the editing of the new history, The Chenoweth Family In America.
After the completion of this arduous task, all the notes, papers, letters, xeroxs, clippings, maps, and sketches that the Harris' had accumulated through the years were donated to the library at the Kentucky Museum of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. This large collection of notes is available for study and examination by interested parties.
